Illinois Supreme Court Appoints Jean Prendergast Chairperson of the Committee on Character and Fitness in the First District
CHICAGO, IL January 11, 2010 - Jean M. Prendergast, a shareholder with Chicago-based Schuyler, Roche & Crisham, P.C., begins the new year with a new title Chairperson of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness in the First District. Ms. Prendergast has served as a member of the committee for the past six years. The committee works with the Illinois Board of Admissions and assists the Illinois Supreme Court in evaluating applicants to the Illinois bar based on their moral character and general fitness to practice law.
"I am honored to serve the Supreme Court and the public in the capacity of Chairperson of this committee," said Prendergast. "It is a privilege to collaborate with other committee members who work thoughtfully and diligently to review and resolve application issues."
In the First District alone, which covers Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, more than 30 attorneys comprise the Committee on Character and Fitness. Ms. Prendergast's term as Chairperson is scheduled to expire December 31, 2012.
